Meet the Program Directors and Coordinators

Erin Gomez, M.D.
Dr. Erin Gomez is an Assistant Professor of Radiology in the Russell H. Morgan Department of Radiology and Radiological Science at Johns Hopkins. She serves as the Director of the Diagnostic Radiology residency program and is the former director of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine's Diagnostic Radiology elective. Dr. Gomez's academic interests include medical student and resident education, fundamentals and clinical applications of MRI physics, and cross-sectional imaging of the female pelvis, with a focus on high-risk OB imaging and MR evaluation of the placenta. She is the Radiology lead for a monthly Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) multidisciplinary conference at Johns Hopkins Hospital (JHH) which involves multimodal imaging review for surgical planning. Currently, her research is focused on optimizing placental MRI for PAS and evaluating maternal and fetal outcomes in this patient population.
Fun facts: Outside of work Dr. Gomez enjoys spending time with her sons and husband, playing frisbee and working in her garden. She is an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and is awaiting a playoffs comeback!
What I love about the program: Our overnight call system, which promotes speed, independence and comfort with complex cases, is a program highlight. I also love the camaraderie that residents show each other on a daily basis - they exemplify teamwork and kindness in all that they do.
Tony Lin, M.D.

Fun facts: In Dr. Lin’s leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his family, gaming, recreational running, learning Japanese, and honing his coding skills.
What I love about the program: Johns Hopkins University offers an excellent professional atmosphere, particularly for faculty members like me who are keen on working with residents for clinical duties and research projects alike. The residents here are so eager to learn and try new things!
Dan Grupp

Fun facts: Outside of Johns Hopkins, Dan is a certified group exercise instructor for Brick Bodies and specializes in Les Mills BODYATTACK. While not at the gym, you can find him spending time with his husband, family and friends. He is an organized and creative type so he truly enjoys cleaning and re-decorating his home, all while watching reruns of Schitt’s Creek and listening to anything by Taylor Swift.
What I love about the program: The program has become a second family to us all. While working closely together to ensure a successful academic year, we can’t help but create special relationships and bonds with one another. And we always make sure to have fun in the process.
Essence Malloy

Fun facts: Essence is involved in her daughter’s elementary school PTO. It's her first time getting involved with parents and kids with special needs, and she's already made some fantastic connections and found some great resources that have helped her daughter in such a short time. As long as her daughter is happy and on track for success, that matters to Essence.
What I love about the program: This program offers so much to the residents on and off campus. I love how inclusive and family-oriented it is.
